Chana Masala ala Santoshi
1.5 medium size onion
3 to 4 medium sized tomato (chopped into small pieces)
20oz of cooked chana (if not already cooked in a can then steam the chana for 30 minutes or until soft)
1tbsp cumin powder
1tbsp coriander powder
1tbsp red chilli powder
1tbsp salt
1tbsp minced garlic
1tbsp ginger paste
1/4tbsp fenugreek seeds or cumin seeds
Heat the pot and add coat with oil (3 tbsp of oil),
add cumin seed or fenugreek seeds (1/4 tbsp) and fry in oil for until the seeds darken,
add minced garlic (1 tbsp or 2+ cloves) & ginger paste (1 tbsp) to the pot and stir into the oil,
add chopped onion and cook until the onion starts to brown or become transluscent.
After onions are cooked add chopped tomatos and cook for a minute.
Add cumin (tbsp), corriandor (tbsp), red chilli powder (tbsp), salt (1 tbsp).
Cook for 5 min then add your boiled chana. Add 2 cups of water and cook for 10-15 min. (until the sauce thickens)
